The Oclef 80/20 Method: Turning Practice into Play

Most music teachers try to teach everything at once. The student is asked to read the notes, find the rhythm, coordinate both hands, shape the phrase, use the right dynamics, balance the melody, articulate cleanly, and somehow make the whole thing sound beautiful. That is too much cognitive load, especially for K-12 students. The Oclef 80/20 Method starts with a simpler question: What part of learning a composition must be taught first, and what part should be discovered later?
